It is 180 acres of grassland and hill land with 350 sheep, 15 hens and 2 sheepdogs. A kitchen garden, greenhouse and large polytunnel also helps the farm to be more sustainable by growing fruit and vegetables for the family.
Butterlope Farm registered as a Community Interest Company to have the ability to apply for funding for Social Farming delivery and capital improvements.
Schools and groups can visit to learn about farming, natural heritage, landscape studies and history of farming in the local area. Tailored programmes available on request. Trainers are qualified LANTRA, Forest Schools and adult education tutors.
